Cinematic nonfiction built for the way audiences discover stories today.
Five-Time Emmy Winner | Founder, Early Days | Founding Member, EE Media Market
Paul Burger is the founder of Early Days, a premium unscripted studio building the next generation of documentary IP for YouTube-first distribution.
After 25 years producing cinematic nonfiction for the world's leading networks and streamers, he started Early Days on a simple conviction: the audience for cinematic documentary has never been larger — and a growing share of that audience is on YouTube.
Stories from the frontlines of conflict, culture and human ambition
An Emmy Award-winning producer and director, Paul most recently produced Trafficked with Mariana van Zeller for National Geographic — an ambitious, multi-season series that immersed viewers inside some of the world's most dangerous black markets.
His work has taken him to the frontlines of conflict, culture and crisis across Lebanon, Jordan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Morocco, Nepal, South Africa and beyond.
He is currently in post-production on two feature documentaries: one chronicling the daring rescue of three chimpanzees from war-torn Central African Republic, and another following a record-breaking wingsuit BASE jump attempt off Mount Lhotse in the Himalayas.
Both are being developed under the Early Days model — cinematic storytelling built for the platforms where audiences actually live.
Early Days works with brands, journalists and award-winning filmmakers to develop documentary projects that don't wait for a traditional greenlight.
Paul believes the next generation of landmark documentary storytelling can emerge through a new model in which ambitious filmmakers, audiences and brands come together around exceptional stories.
